: My Z06 was stollen!!!

Onstar and lojack are both useless pieces of **** that waste your F***ing time and money!!! Onstar contacted me after 48 hours of searching for my car and ultimately informed me they "would no longer exhaust their system attempting to locate my car." What kind of ******* bullshit is that?! Sure as **** Im going to sue them for misleading ads and lack of diligence amounting to a purposeful neglect of my property they assured the safety of!
:soapbox:

I put 20k down, almost 2 years of payments, and all mods listed below, and my F****ing insurance company wants to pay me market value. Well, for sure I'm going to sue my insurance company as well if all they want to give me is market value minus my mods and custom paint job. Thats bad faith!

My losses:

I had a JL audio stealth box(10w3) Alpine pdx1.600 Kenwood 8120 and infinti componants all around.

Entire custom paint job costing $13.3k. (done in july09)

Huricane induction, Lg longtubes, custom tunning, mild to wild switch, billet grill, chrome door plates, custom black and red leather enterior.

I need the Smokinvette forum help!!!!!

I need market value estimates of my vehicle in order to submit to my insurance company in attempt to recover my full value or close to it.

Please help

I am a recent law school grad and am willing to recipricate any and all help rendered.

Damn, that really sucks. Good idea posting on the forums. Maybe someone will see this car somewhere. Hope you are able to recover it.

Seems like the police should be able to track the car with the Onstar system in the car (at least that's what they advertise). I hope you get your car back. Good luck with the insurance company.

That is terrible. I hope you recover the vehicle somehow, and I hope the thiefs are punished accordingly.

I just got done helping out a guy on another forum with a similar situation. His vehicle was damaged in a front-end impact. Monstrously expensive custom paint job that was impossible to match. Custom front grille and some underhood engine mods that were toast. Here's the kicker: He had them scheduled on his insurance policy and he paid extra premium to have them covered. In other words, he did it up right.

And they still tried to screw him. Basically they valued the car at low blue book despite his mods and supposed extra coverage, and told him they thought they were going to total the car. I'll guarantee you they were looking at the salvage value with the custom suspension parts etc... which they were claiming as part of the salvage (as in he couldn't take them off) since he had declared them as part of the vehicle.

He and I went thru a behind-the-scenes back-and-forth together during the claims resolution process. I also reviewed his policy language. I'll do the same for you if you like.

But to be honest... if you didn't do your homework yourself, what they are offering you is what you are going to get and there is no bad faith involved.

Did you tell the company about your mods?
Did you give them values?
Did you insure them specially via an endorsement?

If you didn't... if you just told them you had a Vette... well then you are pretty well screwed. No bad faith anywhere near it.

But I recognize there may be some shades of grey too. Without knowing details all I can do is blab some.

I've been doing this kind of brand-neutral 'tech support' for a lot of years for people. I'm actually personally licensed to transact/discuss auto insurance in most of these United States.

PM me if you are interested.

I'd suggest if we do go on that - to at least some degree - we make the details as public as possible as even with an endorsement covering your mods, a standard insurance carrier could be giving you next to nothing and you won't know it until you read the policy (as in 'read the contract'). Most people are clueless about how this works and details would help them.

Stealing a vette should be awefully hard. What was the situation in which it went missing?

Sounds like some pros got it...

Are you kidding ?? If there is a way to defeat something the pro's will figure it out. I have seen some of the things they can do and you wouldn't believe it.

Also, Onstar is easily defeated and there are ways around LoJack too.
