Well i was 33 or 34 when i bought my first vette. Still have it. My first drive in one was when i was 17 and gave a big story to the dealer so i could test drive one of them:lol: The sales lady had to go with me and she was kinda hot.

I bougth my stingray 72 when i was 33 year old, few months before my daugther born. I went across the italy to see every vette that i until i found my 72 just imported from USA by a guys that decided to sell it to buy a Aston Martin.
After the history continued, with my 75, 78 silver anniversary, 85 and other american cars.

I was a young one at 20! My father bought it for me and we actually shared the car for several years! It was the greatest thing in the world to be driving around in a Vette when all your friends were in junkers!

Yo King, I was 21 and just out of the Navy in 1960 and bought a repossed 57 w/hardtop from a bank for $500. w/bad transmission and resold for $900 thought I had made a killing, one saturday at midnight 6months later a drunk was pounding on my door looking for that $900 57 Vet, musta been topic of conversation that night at the local bucket of blood. I still chuckle thinking of that night 48 years ago. Today at a fit 68 yrs of age we are on our 11th Corvette,C-1s,C2s,C3s, and today a Silver 84 all have been fun but not without with a few trying times along the way. In the 60's when muscle cars w/exhausts sounding like an "elephant breaking wind up a drain pipe", we torn up our share of these "BEASTS". Still enjoy making the 84 squat and go!!!

I was 19 years old when my used car dealer father brought home a '65 Glen Green 327 365 hp roadster 4 speed with white interior and a lift off hardtop. I bought it from him for $3,400 and drove it for nearly one year and then sold it to get married. My new wife learned what I had done and said "You should have asked me, because I would have told you not to sell it." I ended up replacing it with a '55 Chevy 2 door sedan and invested more money in the '55 than I owed on the Vette. So on our fourtieth anniversary we replaced that C2 Roadster with a '94 Polo Green 350 300 hp convertible automatic with beige interior and soft top. Many times I wished I would have kept that C2 Roadster, worth so much more today! But once again enjoy cruisin' topless.

Well, in 1990 (when I was 29) I owned a 1989 Ford Taurus Station Wagon that I had bought brand-new (I'd just got married the year before and was doing the domestic thing). My cousin's b/f had an '84 Coupe and he needed a larger car to haul his kids around my wife & I didn't have any kids yet, so I was going to swap him straight across. My wife nixxed that idea saying that once I got the Vette, I'd never sell it - even if we did have kids later on (which just shows how well she knew me even then). Anyways, three kids, a couple of mortgages, and 17 years later on I finally got my Corvette. Since I'm 47 next week, and can remember drawing Corvettes in school when I was 12 years old, I guess you could say that I've waited about 35 years to buy mine. And my wife was right... it's not for sale!

Got my first Vette, new 1975 when I got out of the Army at the age of 23. Ordered it special and it took almost 9 months to get. I though I'd keep it forever. Sold it 4 years later to buy our first house. Currently have an 87 Roadster, it's a lot more fun to drive than the 75.

I remember it well - it was a 63 split window that I paid $950 for (it was 1973 and I was 21). It wasn't stock (had a 350 engine w/1050 Holley, headers, etc.). What a great car for a 21 year old to have. But alas, Army pay wasn't much, and I sold it a year later for a big profit of $400.....

I was 35 when I bought my 85, I'm 37 now and I have put about 400 miles on it. Transmission went so I had one built for it then the engine developed major internal problems so I replaced that just prior to deploying to Afghanistan for the second time since I bought it, so now I am looking forward to getting home and finishing it up. Whats next the rearend?

I don't know if this exactly qualifies as "my first vette" or not. I was 19 and had put $200 down on a customized '57 vette. The customizing wasn't all that impressive, but I had dreams of returning it to stock. I had just enlisted in the AirForce on delayed enlistment in '74 and was in the process of applying for a loan(with a guaranteed job for 4 years). The vette owner said he would hold the car for me for 2 weeks while I secured a loan. About 4 days after making my deposit on the car, I got a call from the vette owner and was asked to stop by his house. Upon pulling up to his house, I parked just past the driveway, in front of the house. In getting out of the car, the owner met me at the curb and walked me up the driveway towards the garage. I was in total shock to find the garage in a pile of rubble with a car frame and engine sitting in the middle of it. That was all that was left of the vette. The night before, during a rainstorm, the garage was hit by lightening when nobody was at home. All was burnt up and leveled to the ground. He apologized and returned my deposit of $200. Since that time I've bought my '64 when I was 25 and bought an '85 at the age of 45.

Well my first Vette was a used 65 convert at age 26. My next Vette was a new 92 Convert at age 51 and sold it with only 4000 miles on it. Car got 24 mpg and drove great but it was not as much fun to drive as the older Vette I had. Then I bought a 66 convert (you figure the age) and did a body off 2 year restoration on it, nothing was spared and when the smoke cleared my project cost me $41,000 plus a lot of time. Went nuts looking for NOS parts.

52 fricking years old:wheelchair: But at least I went for a 07 zo6 that had 7k miles driven by a gm rep. It's the same car in atomic orange thats on the posters and so on . Special run car with a vin # of 30. The dealer put on a killer bee intake and dynoed it before I picked it up and I have it in writing he will honor the warranty for me. So if any of you guys want to buy a vette and have a little work done such as long tube headers intake and tune I can and will give you there name. They have been doing this for over 20 yrs and has some direct ties with someone high up at gm. With the intake and dyno it's at 480 whp and 455 tq. running at 11 to 12 a/f getting 22 mpg average .

Im probably one of the youngest to ever been so lucky as to get a corvette as there first car.I have a '86 vette and im 16. almost 17. my father bought me the car off of a guy that was moving to Puerto Rico and needed to get rid of it.The interior was pretty much shot along with guages>which is a big problem with the early c4's as i was soon to find out.lol. but the body was basically flawless.95,000 miles on the engine. got the car for dirt cheap too.I am a dishwasher at a local restaurant and work my butt off to put all my money into this car !currently restoring the interior and buying and putting together a new intake.(Cold air intake, ported plenum, 58mm TB, matching SLP runners).and computer chip, and soon hope to get a upgraded cam, but i have to do my research first.

Hard to say actually. When I was 16 I told my dad about a 69 sitting in my girlfriends neihbors yard. He bought it and we never did much with it. Then about 9 years ago he bought an 80 model from florida siezure auction. Its in rough shape and still is but runs. Then about 5 years ago he bought a 86 from another police siezure auction in Palestine, TX. We are actually working on it now (Lambo doors, not my idea). and then 2 or so years ago he bought another 80 model from an insurance auction. It was a Hurricane Katrina victim from Louisiana. Freshwater flood. It is an L88 4 speed I believe. The 4 speed i'm sure of. Runs like a scalded ape. Had to rebiuld rear end earlier this year. Now a 3.55 ratio. My 93 is MY FIRST corvette but I have always driven his anytime I wanted.

Back in 1976 I was 26 and very recently married. When we returned from the honeymoon I started looking for a Corvette without telling her. After about two months I bought a '68 427/400 4spd conv with Hooker sidepipes. The test drive was to the bank for the purchase price of $2800, which was the money from the wedding. My wife learned we had a Corvette when she got home from work that day. It wasn't the last time she came home to a surprise.
PS..... several Corvettes later I have the same wife and she still has the pink scar on her leg from the first time she got out of the car and put her leg on the very hot sidepipe.

My 2nd vette I bought in San Diego when I got out of the Navy. Used 1967 in 1972 Unfortunately the previous owner beat the living snot out of it. Thinking back on it now I should have taken my time shopping!! 24 hrs. back from Vietnam I wanted a Vette!! and Now!! Currently own a 1987 and 1990. 87 I bought new,the 90 I picked up in 2002 with 14,000 miles on it. Needless to say @ 60 yrs.old I'm still hooked on Vettes!!

I'm 56 and bought my first Vette this past fall. The '86 convertible needed a little TLC which helped me afford it. I will do most of any work needed myself. Most expensive thing so far has been tires and I bought the least expensive I could find. Thank goodness I don't have a C5 or newer. I have heard of outrageous prices for newer vette tires.:friday:

I was 46. It was a 6-month old red C4 sitting on a Toyota dealer's lot; traded by first owner on a Land Crusher. It was lonely in a sea of Corollas and Camrys. I don't think the Toyota shop knew what to do with it. Made a sweet deal and wrote a check. I was in my twin turbo AWD Dodge Stealth SRT4 at the time. The Stealth stuck around a few years as my snow car (!), but it's gone now. The Vette, however, remains.

Im 21 now, and In the Marine Corps and after my first deployment over seas In a combat zone I decided to reward my self with something cool, and to comment on the other thread that says how expensive people think they are, I never thought I would be able to affors one then I found my 79 for 4000

Hang on to that 79 and enjoy it till you are 82. Now go get yourself a nice C5 or C6. You deserve it and if anyone knows that you only go around once it's guys like you.

Give 'em hell and thank you. http://www.33smiley.com/smiley2/flags/military/4.gif

I was 27 and my only regret is that I didn't keep it forever. I still get a little swelling when I think back of the day that I realized I could buy it. Thank you Harley J. Earl and Zora Arkus-Duntov. You are truly American dream weavers.

First one came at 18, a 1974 L-82 Stingray for a thousand bucks..(Huge project)

Then came my 1992 LT-1, 5 days after my 21st birthday(This one has been a big PITA, nonetheless a big joy to drive when it runs though....)

Looking forward to upgrading onto a C5 or C6 in the future. Hoping to still keep my C3 and C4.
