Hello. I just became a member last month and decided to become a vendor this month. I have read many posts on this sight and the knowledge "floating" around is impressive to say the least. I will offer my input anytime I feel like I can help someone out.
Since Roto-fab probably appears like a name that just popped out of the woodwork, I'll fill you in on the history. My wife and I started the business nearly 10 years ago. We began by building one rotational molding machine to mold plastic products. We have produced aftermarket automotive parts for my employer during this time. I fabricated the tooling and my wife ran the parts. We had no need to advertise. Over the years, we have used what little money "life" doesn't eat up to build up our metal fabrication shop. We currently have two rotational molding machines and a nice fabrication shop. Now we are beginning a new phase in our business.
I have been fabricating components for Corvettes virtually full time for 10 years. Over that time I have seen many of the aftermarket components available for the Corvette. Many underhood components have "bling", but what I realized is it was only skin deep! I think there is a place in the market for products that have not only a nice finish, but a quality product underneath. A product that is hand built with skill, pride, craftmanship and quality materials. When you handle and inspect one of our fabricated products, you will realize what a great deal of time and attention has been devoted to it. I have yet to fabricate a perfect piece, but no product will leave this shop until it is the best that I can do.
The fuel rail covers are just the beginning of what we will have to offer. I look forward to this journey and hope our paths cross along the way.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hope to talk with all of you on the forums.

Will these just fit C6's?

roto-fab
01-20-2008, 09:11 AM
As of right now, yes. It takes 4 different sets just to cover most of the C6 cars! We will be developing more as soon as time permits. Our next application will probably depend on what people tell us they want. What do you need covers for?

A big welcome goes out to you! Fan of your work, those covers really make a hugh difference. Are they a direct fit from the stock ones?

roto-fab
01-21-2008, 10:06 AM
Yes, they are a direct fit. All you have to do is take the rubber "grommets" off of your stock covers and put them on these covers. No need to disconnect fuel line either. The only tool needed is a small screwdriver to remove the rubber pieces from the stock covers. Thanks

Very well done, do you plan to make other engine parts that can be done in same finish?

roto-fab
01-21-2008, 05:19 PM
Yes, I do plan on offering other parts. I would like them all to have a common theme in terms of material selection, quality and finish. We do want to proceed with a few more engine cover applications first though. For now, we will continue to iron out the process on the ones we have!

Just curious at this point but do you have any photos of white ones? And if some one decides to add a for example fast 90 or supercharger will these still fit? Or new ones need to be purchased?

Thank you for your time,

Paul

Paul,
No white ones yet, but I think they would look awesome! What about the logo like the black set I have pictured and "Corvette" in black lettering on the white cover? Any suggestions? If you send me your paint code, I will have a set painted and we can both see what they look like! If you like them, you can buy them. NO OBLIGATION though. As for FAST intake, the top, rolled edge of the cover may need minor trim work. Stock ones require some trimming, but I don't hug the runners as much, so it would be close. Also, fuel rail selection and/or injector heigth must be considered. Generally, if the stock one will fit, these will fit. Another benefit of these covers is I can change the mounts to suit "oddball" applications. Of course, there is set-up involved, so its better if several people want them. As for superchargers, I think they would fit with a Procharger without mods. I should know for sure within the next week or so, if things go as I plan. Maggies require a totally different cover, which I also make. Lastly,I would like to believe these covers will retain a decent value in the used market should someone find it necessary to sell or replace them. This may also be the case with lease cars. I would not have thought of that one myself-a gentleman leasing a C6 pointed that out to me! Thanks for your ?'s.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I am hoping that many smokin vette members will come up with some creative paint schemes for these covers. This is a great way to have a truly custom look under the hood. We are having some fuel rail covers triple chrome plated this week. I will post pics when we get them back. They can be etched or have custom paint work done over the chrome. Use your imagination and get a special deal by checking our thread in the C6 forum titled, "sale for smokin members only..." Thanks again for taking the time to look at our products.

Whats the difference from triple chrome and double chrome? I know 3 layers right? Does that just give more shine?

According to my plater, triple chrome means:
1) copper plate
2)nickel plate
3)chrome plate
It is a three step process, but only one coat of chrome. I have read other definitions elsewhere!
FYI-The company I am using for this process does a large amount of chrome plating on aluminum products. This was one of my primary considerations since all of my covers are aluminum.:)

I thought you couldnt chrome plate aluminum only polish. How durable is the chrome plating on aluminum.

It is more common than I thought. The plating company that I am dealing with specializes in chrome plating aluminum. I asked the owner about durablility/longevity and he said previous clients have not made him aware of any long term problems. Additionally, he pointed to some aluminum castings that he has been doing for years(didn't say how many years) and said they have never complained about failures in the field. I will offer polished covers for those that don't want chrome. In my opinion, polished covers are a little better looking, but chrome offers more of a "blemish free" surface. Probably no questions on maintenance, chrome would be easier.
As soon as I get results I am satisfied with on the polished covers, I am going to have a set "bright dip anodized". Apparently, this is a clear coat anodizing process... another process that sounds like a contradiction of terms! I am anxious to see the results. When I started this whole project, I had no idea how involved the R & D on the finishes would be. The good thing is there will be an option to suit most anyone. Also, what is learned here will be carried over to other products.

Hello and welcome. You have some great products! I have been trying to come up with a design to make " look-a-like"fuel rail covers that would bolt on to vortec centerbolt valve covers to add some bling. I put a set of vortec heads on my 77 vette, but always loved the looks of the C5 fuel rail covers. You only have few choices of valve covers for vortec heads and they are pretty blah. I'm always looking for something diffrent and new.

Well anyway, keep up the great work....

I have started, but still need to complete them. After the intitial test fit, I decided we had too many "irons in the fire" and decided to finish up the others that were still in progress. I will keep you posted on progress though. Thanks.

Do you have a Magnuson Super Charger on your C5? I decided to use four mounting points like the C6 covers. They mount firmly and look great! Like the others, these are all aluminum and will be available chrome-plated, painted or bare. I am still trying to get the polished version to cooperate!
Check out the first pics! :)

Thanks for noticing! I just took some pics of our chrome-plated aluminum covers with etched graphics. I don't expect anyone to want "Roto-fab" on their covers. However, I thought it would be good for my own advertising such as brochures, etc. I am posting one black and white pic just because it looks different than what we normally see!:)

First of all, thanks for the compliment!
I haven't been able to test fit on a car with a FAST intake. It should just be a matter of contouring the taller runners. I am assuming you kept the same injector heigth and stock fuel rails. If either of those two variables have changed, it would require a different top mount location. You can see the brackets I am talking about in the attached pic. None of the above would difficult to deal with; however, I would need to come up with a car with your set-up in this neck of the woods.:)
