: Superram on a stock intake.
85L98-84L83 09-27-2009, 11:41 AM I have to remove my plenum to clean or replace my EGR. Instead of putting the stock plenum and stock runners back on, if I put my superram on the stock intake manifold, will I gain any performance or should I just reinstall the stock runners and plenum? I have a vortec intake but no heads so I can't use the new intake yet.
ex-x-fire 09-27-2009, 12:08 PM On a stock cammed, no headers, oem type exhaust, I wouldn't in stall that. It'll take away your low end torque.
Sounds like you got a big pile of parts, all you need is a dyno. Any word on the R*N*G*D*(you add the vowels) manifold?
Paulie Lugnuts 09-28-2009, 08:22 AM Waste of time putting the plenum and runners from a superram on a stock base. If you are going to install a superram install the whole thing. Don't worry about losing low end torque, I have a superram on my 86 and there was no noticable loss.
85L98-84L83 09-28-2009, 09:46 PM When taking the plenum off, you take out the screws on the top of the plenum and do you loosen the bottem screws or bolts on the lower part of the runners?
You have to replace the top runner gaskets where it meets the plenum, but do you have to replace the bottem runner gaskets too? Do you put any sealant on the gasket area or just put the gaskets on dry? Do you have to take the throttle body off or can you leave it on?
Paulie Lugnuts 09-29-2009, 08:24 AM Don't loosen the lower bolts. Replace the plenum gaskets. Don't use any sealent. You can leave the throttle body on the plenum and disconnect everything to it or unbolt it from the plenum and leave the hoses and wires hooked up.

:goodpost: Thanks for the info. Are all the bolts the same length on the plenum? Do I have to worry about different lengths?

Just install your spare Crossfire manifold More power than you can deal with.
RACE ON!!!

Don't worry... Be happy!

I think they're all the same, just the 1 with the pin for the cable bracket.

I say do it but run a 58mm TB and 36 lb injectors as well.Should go well with your gears

Don't loosen the lower bolts. .
This should be good;
I'm waiting for the next post were he has broken something because he couldn't crack the plenum loose :thumbsup:

I'm bidding on a FSM right now. So if I loosen the bottem bolts on the runners do I have to change the gaskets out as well or can I just tighten them up?
Paulie Lugnuts 09-30-2009, 03:34 PM If you loosen them, you should replace the gaskets. I've done this many times without loosening the lower bolts. Just pry gently on the plenum and it will come up. Don't forget the brake booster pipe on the left rear.
