I just picked up a 78 and the color and interior do not match the codes. The car is supposed to be Dark Blue with Oyster interior. The interior is black now, what I am would like to know is how much of the inside is oyster. Is all of it that color or is it just the seats and carpeting with the dash being black. I haven't checked to see if there is a tank sticker on the car and don't know what information is on the tank sticker. Maybe this car was ordered with black interior but then if it was the ID tag would say that wouldn't it.
Thanks

Ed,
I have an 80 with doeskin interior. Basically the whole interior is doeskin, except for the top of the dash pad, which is black. If you look at photos from one of the replacement shops for dashes, you should see this.
I think that if the car was ordered with a black interior, the ID tags would indicate that.

The 78 and 80 are both what is called the C3 model. This ran from 1968 to 1982. This is also called the Shark body style. During the late 60's into the 70's, Chevy used the Stingray name, then dropped it, then used it. So, technically both the 78 and 80 are not Stingray's.

Just my 2 cents worth, but if you are going to be replacing your interior, and your finances will afford it, try to get absolutely everything in one order. A lot of parts suppliers offer from 10% to 15% off interior package orders. Might as well take advantage of as much savings as possible.

1963 was the first year of the Sting Ray [two words].Stayed through 67. Body change in 68 but no Stingray [one word] back until 69. Why they left out 68 makes no sense. Friend of mine rebuilding 68 said he wanted Stingray letters for the side until he learned it would not be orig. 76 was last year of Stingray.

:iagree: That looks good. My 75 has only 13000 miles on it but interior has some wear. Not too bad for a 33 year old car though. I need to get the pics of dads 62 interior posted. It has all been redone. Almost hate to get in.
