When I bought my vette it was this red colour.
The other day I sent it in for small touch up work [scratches and chips]. The spray painter then worked on the colour according to the VIN but then the matching colour came out orange!!!
So my vette much have had a colour change some time ago.

I'm toying with the idea of a different color. I like the charcoal metallic, and then again I don't. The g/f would prefer something in red or blue.

It depends on how You look at it. If Your car looks like mine did, the new paint raised the value.

After thinking about it, i decided to reinsert my initial response...it needs to be said...

Illiteracy doesn't help values much either. It REALLY sets off the alarm as to just who has had the car in their paws before you.

It would be safer not to... You never know what an ultra-maroon with a wrench is capable of screwing up.
Now where is that Bugs-Bunny smiley???

That was a cool change...but the factory gold C4s were/are rare.

If you are going to completely change out a color you need to make certain the entire body is taken apart and resprayed right or the results can get real scary. It is A LOT of work and time! So, make certain you are sure that you really want the new color...it could end up being cheaper, easier, and get better results trading the car out for one in the color you want if it is a stock color. Mine wasn't stock untill 2002 and i had the car pretty much disassembled already.
