Can these parts be painted? It all looks plastic? Will the paint stick and be durable? My interior is completely black and considering adding some red to liven things up a bit here.

Thanks everyone

I have seen people who paint the plastic parts, but the stratch easy? Then you see the black plastic? I would check with a body shop and have it professionally done. They might have heavier duty paint to use?

There are paints that are made specifically for this. Do a google search or call a body shop. good luck!

GM actually sells an interior "dye" for that purpose.

For the plastic parts?? Heck I may be interested myself. Have you used this dye?

I have on my 77, I changed the interior to Black. It held up pretty good for 7 years.

They have plastic primer out now also that allows plastic to be painted with a normal rattle can, I would consider using that in conjunction with the GM interior dye.

Krylon has special paint for plastic also...

I think that most large scale auto performance stores now carry this dye. This is something that I may try in the future to spruce up my interior.

Where can I get this? And are there any prep chemicals needed to insure good adhesive?

Thank you

Any GM Dealer's Parts department should have it or can order your interior color, bring your code with you. When I used it there was no prepping other then cleaning real well. It is a rattle can and it looked like paint to me but it does stick good to plastics...

My 2001 Z06 came with a red and black two tone interior. I like the look. I hope it works for you. I bought a set of red door handle bezels from Mid-America and have not installed them that I might be persuaded to part with. I think that I paid $25 for the pair.:iagree:
