I have an 1984 Vette that I'm trying to get running. This car has been sitting for very long time and hasn't been started I would have to say easily 8 years? I have the rear bumper off and can see the fuel tank?
How do I remove the tank?
Thanks,

This is pretty difficult. Unless there is a method to do it by removing it through the bumper, the only way i know how is to remove the entire rear suspension.

Thats exactly what I had to do, what a b*tch too! I got the car started but it still runs rough so I have been tuning it up.

You don't have to remove the tank to clean it, Just remove the fuel pump/sending unit assembly, the hole left in the top of the tank is plenty big to clean out your tank, These tanks have a plastic liner so rust is not a problem just a good cleaning with soap and hot water, If you still need to remove the tank just remove the fuel pump/sending unit, bumper cover, bumper, spare tire holder and the two straps holding the tank in place, There are also two safety straps that hold the tank in the car if your in bad accident these must also be removed.
