I am having to push over with both hands as of lately to get it into reverse. Should I get some of that gear oil or something?

Right, remember the old motto, "If it can not get up, it can not get in."

Also, sounds more like a linkage problem than gear oil...................

Thats a common problem with these manual transmissions. Sometimes you will have to let the clutch out then push it back in and it will usually go into reverse then.

DO NOT FORCE IT.... You will damage the trans... I have seen it first hand. You should always go to first or second first then into reverse. My friend just had has trans re-built (not the original owner) and the mechanic said to make these trans last, you should go to first or second then into reverse. By forcing it into gear you are damaging the internals and therefore shortening the life of the unit.

Always go to "first or second" before you try to go in the reverse direction. It gets everything used to the action and ready to back it up!

Out of habit, I usually do the same as mentioned above and I rarely have problem getting that gear.
