Is this correct? Just the pads on the rear brakes is what I understand takes the brunt of the beating when doing a burnout.:burnout:

When you do a "power brake" burnout, the engine's torque is MUCH greater than the gripping power of the rear brakes. So yes, the rear brake pads take a beating while you're holding the car back with the brakes.

And the tires! :)

I don't think it's TOO hard on the pads, as your actual rear wheel speed doesn't get much over around 40 mph...unless you've got some major mods and/or are doing it in a water box. If it never shifts out of first gear...it's pretty much impossible for the tires to be spinning all that fast.

Still...it's not doing anything GOOD for the rear pads. I've done TONS of brake stands though, and the tires were the only noticable wear and tear on the car.

I agree. The rear tires don't really spin all that fast and usually the burnout isn't all that long; just a few seconds worth. Not long enough to wear the pads very much. On my 700R4, the moment it upshifts to 2nd gear, the burnout is over.

LOL. I Remember that "feature". Wind-out first, shift, then...BOG! :)

Yeah...like ANY burn-out would be. No need to worry though; the car is perfectly able to tolerate that...and a LOT more.
