I am considering purchasing a 1979 Vette from a friend of a friend. The car has new suspension and was lowered at least 2 inches. The front air spoiler is only about 2 1/2 to 3 inches from the ground and is obviously taking a beating from speed bumps. My question is does anyone know how they may have lowered the suspension and how can it be brought back to its orignal height?
( Cost to fix )

probably lowered by using shorter coils, but even stosk it is pretty low, is the rear lowered as well?

coil springs are that difficult or expensive if they shortened yours. shouldnt be too hard to go back to stock

If just the front is lowered, you should be able to buy sock height springs and install those. That should bring the car back to it's original height.

The easiest way to lower a coil spring front end is to heat the coils with a torch; stopping the heating when the car is at the desired height. The only thing you can do is replace the front coils with new (or used) ones. Not a big job.

Or you could replace the entire front suspension with a Coil-Over System from Vette Brakes, then it would be infinitetly adjustable (although also a bit more expensive than stock springs).

if the coils were heated, they are just scrap metal now .

I agree. Heating them would change the tension of the coils and they would probably break at the point they were heated.
