What are some of the major things to look at on my 88? Thanks!


If you still have the original spark plug wires on it, now would be a good time to change them. And change the spark plugs while you're at it. It would be a good idea to check the voltage on your throttle position switch and re-adjust it if it's not reading right. And I would also replace the distributor's cap and rotor. Take a good look at the belts and coolant hoses while you're under the hood, and take a good look at the vacuum hoses that are close to the engine as well; checking for splits where they plug on to things. And change your antifreeze if it's time to. If your brake fluid is discolored, flush it out and refill with fresh DOT 4. Check your brake pads and replace them if needed. When was the last time your wheel bearings were repacked? If you have never repacked the rear wheel bearings, you MUST do them soon. Before you burn them up.

Repack the wheel bearings? They're sealed.
Replace the air and fuel filters and any fluid that hasn't been changed recently.
