Hi I have a 1980 L48 vet and I wanted to change the heads, cam, intake manifold and add headers with dual exhaust. I wanted to know if anybody had any recomendations and also if I could get a new intake manifold without the egr valve.

Thanks
Jeff

boy i understand the need for upgrade on that motor. check w/Edelbrock.com they have some cam ,manifold, head, carb pkg your gonna need it all to get anything from that low compression motor

I agree 100% with fishslayer. Edelbrock has everything you need to breathe life into your engine. They have such a good product line, it's not worth it to shop anywhere else. Keep us posted on how everything comes out..........

one more suggestion, dump the A.I.R. pump and everything connected to it. including stock exhaust. get good set of tube headers, i have heddman ,eeasy to install, free flowing dual exhaust. you will see huge improvement

Jeff,
Been there, done that! I have the same car and I can tell you that Holley as well as Edelbrock make a great top end kit. I elected to go with the Holley, mostly because I got a 1800.00 kit for 800. I couldn't be happier with it. It produces about 420HP with some machining and a new 750 cfm carb.

either brand is quality stuff the most important thing is that the components match, and i dont mean brand i mean power range . i had holley stuff on several cars , excellent stuff good luck

think future with your top end upgrade, are you going to build a stroker later on, supercharger maybe, and research is the key to any up grade. i agree that you cant to wrong with edelbrocks top end combos. what will you do when the bottom end needs rebuilt?
