I have enough money saved up to pay cash for a used 2002 possibly 2003 C5. My question for you all is should I pay cash for a older Vette and have to deal with the possibility of things going wrong or should I use my saved "Corvette Fund" money and put down on a newer C6 and finance the difference? The C5's that I have been looking at are 2002's and one was a 2003. All have had under 40k miles? What sort of maintanence issues are common on these cars?

I'm looking forward to getting my first Vette and being official! So thanks for the help.

You will be very happy with the C5, more happy that you don't have a car payment! :p

I say buy a C5 Z06. Its better than a stock C6 and possibly no payment

I did the same thing, had some money saved up. Was deciding on paying cash for a C5 or financing a C6? Didn't want the car payment so went with the C5!

Yep same thing here. I've been looking for a while and finally found a beautiful, garage kept 2000 C5 (Mill Yel) and couldn't be happier. Part of my fund was money put aside for the expectation of having to replace or repair some things, like tires, brakes, fluids. I did and even had mine looked at by an independed mechanic and all is well. I have no payments and am enjoying the best car I've ever owned.
