I pulled my rear end out to replace the pinion and side yoke seals. While I had it out of the car, I put a 1/4 NPT drain plug in it. After I got it back in the car, I checked to see if I could get to the drain plug once the exhaust pipes were put back on. Yep, there's a 3/4" gap between the two exhaust pipes right where the drain plug is. It always irritated me that there was no drain plug in these Dana Spicer 44 ICA rear ends. It will sure be nice in later years to simply pull a plug out to drain the 85W90; rather than having to suck or siphon it out. Many years ago, I put a 1/8" NPT drain plug in my 700R4's oil pan and torque convertor, and that sure made it nice to work on them. But I had always wished my rear end had one too. Now it does.
Do the earlier years of 'Vettes have a drain plug in their rear ends? How does anyone go about removing the old oil and replacing it with new oil? I have been siphoning it out in the past years and it took FOREVER to do; the thick 85W90 oil not wanting to siphon out of a 3/8" O.D. piece of bent steel tubing very well.

On some of the earlier c3s you could pull a bolt that connected the rear spring and could drain the rear end. There was even an enlarged hole in the sheet metal guard that covered the spring mount pad.
