One of the most common problems is sway bar bushings (2 front and rear). A little white lithium grease in them will be a good place to start.

Why do you ask if it has been lowered lethal?

Why do you ask if it has been lowered lethal?

Lowering your ride by compressing the leaf springs can cause squeaks and rattles it can also cause premature shock wear.

Thats good.I hear alot of owners end up switching to Bilstein sport shocks to eliminate squeaks and rattles

I learn this that a Z06 shocks has enough travel to lower the car and not worry about the shocks bottoming out .Maybe the one having a problem are not Z06s........... :patriot:

Replace the sway bar links and bushings. Also check the front leaf spring, might be cracking. Check the tie rod ends in the rear they might be loose if so replace them too. You will be good to go:thumbsup:

However, the C6 Z51 sways will cost you $150 or so...

Or you can upgrade to C5 Z06 sways and use these...

I just called Pfadt and spoke with Robin. Unfortunately they don't carry a C5 OEM 'poly' bushing replacement.

You can try here if you need OEM...
http://www.gmpartshouse.com/c5partslist.html

Try cleaning, lubing and checking/retorquing the fasteners on the sways...

Aloha,

I bot the Z06 sways from gmpartsdirect.com - came with the aluminum "ends".

When I replaced them, the old "ends" were in terrible shape. The boots were gone and the things rattled in my hand. A significant change in the ride. Feels solid and noise definitely reduced.

Next to install are poly bushings from Zip. I think everyone sells the same ones.

If all of the above fails try a tunnel reinforcement plate. It could be the answer????

If all else fails try installing a tunnel reinforcement plate - while your at it put the insulator in at the same time.

Have the same issue with my 1999 C5 with over 75,000 miles. Daily driver...rain or shine.

I bought some white lithium in a can and spray down the bushings every oil change. That took care of the problem.

How much is the PDFT kit? It is a DIY?

Well, they are fiber glass guys...

I would look into the sway bar links and go from there.
