dads06 03-06-2007, 06:32 PM Just got my Vette with Good Years. Your Vette looks great, looks like someone spent some time detailing that!
02RonZ06 03-07-2007, 06:40 PM I got my Z06 in Nov. a few months ago, it had recently had a complete set of Firestone Wide Ovals installed that were replacing the orginal Goodyear F1 Supercars. I haven't had any issues with the Firestones, but I also did not get to drive it with the original brand tires on it.

02RonZ06 03-07-2007, 07:21 PM Thanks Alex, I was just looking through the 100+ pictures that I have of my Z06 and found that none of them are in direct sunlight??? lol so I will have to get some soon in the sun and shined up.

VetteOnTheRun 03-08-2007, 07:35 AM Good years on the C6 and I have Michelin's on the C5
tom snitzer 03-08-2007, 12:22 PM I have Michelin Pilot Sports for street tires (345/30/19 rear), (275/35/18 fronts) on I forged rims and Michelin Pilot Sport Cups (R compound tires) for road racing (345/30/18 rears), (295/35/18 fronts) on CCW Corsair rims. Will get some pics to post when car returns from tuner (in for spring rr tune up). I installed rear fender flares to carry the wider rear tires, w/o tubbing.

Hi Tom... you have any photos of the rims you have on your Vette? I would like to see how the 345/30/19's look on your car. Interested to see if these tires overlap the quarter panels? Please post some pics! Thanks!
Alex
1nicec5 03-08-2007, 06:32 PM i am running nitto 555r's in the rear and nitto nto1's in the front. great combo for performance.

335s will stick out a half an inch on the C5, 345s would be what Tom? 5/8”s of an inch? I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that with an offset wheel to center the tire in the well there would be problems with rubbing on the inside. Flares are definitely the way to go!
Tom, I assume that you’ve had no codes from the ABS or Traction Control/Active Handling? I believe the correct ratio for proper operation of those systems is that the rears have to be a ½” taller then the fronts, optimum … Just curious because I’m no tire/wheel expert and have no idea as to the heights of your setup.
And yeah, post some pics you cheap skate!!!! :D
tstar 03-08-2007, 11:53 PM mogreenn - Those Kumhos look great! Do you have a comparision bewtween them and the original GY runcraps? I was pretty set on not getting runflats again when the time came, but........ ??

tstar....My kumhos are runflats....They do carry a nonfunflat brand..check out them at tirerack.com
tstar 03-09-2007, 12:15 PM Well I meant did you have the stock GoodYears on prior to the Kumho purchase?? If so, have you noticed any improvements in ride quality, tire noise and handling?
tom snitzer 03-09-2007, 03:54 PM Sorry for lack of pics. My car is out at tuners for a couple weeks. The link below chronicles some of the project work I've done to the car. If you scroll down to the end you will see the MaxAcc fender flairs I had installed(i.e. new rear qtr panels) which add 2" to the width of the car to allow 345s without tubing. I included the maxacc link as well.
The tires I run have the same relative diameter as stock and work fine with the active handling.

tom snitzer 03-09-2007, 04:00 PM One thing I forgot to add: I'm not concerned with the “active handling” for the race tires, as a run with it off on the track.
Once you start turning faster laps the active handling can cause severe under-steer and host of other nasty unintended consequences. The same is true in "comp mode".
tstar 03-09-2007, 04:21 PM Excellent point! I just wanted tp point it out for other readers of this thread that didn't know about the required differences in height between the rears and fronts for their AH/TC systems to function properly.
Thanx for the links... You've sure got one beast of a car there Tom!!!!!! :D
J.P.M.@AutoBuffs 03-10-2007, 11:02 AM Handling is extremly better..noise is about the same...Im gonna stick with these lil babys
