: Are all of our C3's running perfectly?
toobroketoretire 08-10-2009, 10:44 AM This C3 forum has gone mighty quiet lately. Are our C3's running perfectly now? Or is everyone real busy working on their cars and don't have time to post their troubles? C'mon guys, there must be SOMETHING wrong with your C3's.
74VetteKid 08-10-2009, 01:06 PM It's not a problem with my car, but could anyone suggest a good brand of headers for a 350 that are relatively cheap? I'd like to redo my exhaust, but don't wanna bolt up performance exhaust to constricting manifolds.
Thanks guys.
metalkid 08-10-2009, 01:41 PM Well, there's been some progress with my efforts to bring my '78 Silver Anniversary back to life:
We're almost done with the large jar of "Preggo Traditional Italian Spaghetti Sauce"! :woowoo:
I need the glass jar to use as a brake fluid recovery tank in conjunction my with my vacuum pump to bleed the brakes with.
One more spaghetti dinner should do the trick!:thumbsup3:

Hooker Hedders are the first ones to come to my mind. They make many different styles and they are quite affordable.

Once I get my new Renegade intake manifold on, I'm hoping my car runs like a rape date as well. From what I've heard as of a week ago, they're about 4-5 weeks behind in their production schedule. So it looks like it'll be early to mid September before they ship any of them.
crossed 08-11-2009, 05:25 PM I bought my car a couple weeks ago and the gas cap gasket was gone and now my gas tank is full of water. Just got the new cap in so now I can worry about getting all the water out of the tank and lines...and hopefully the carb wont be a problem.
The original quadrajet is still on the car and its pretty rough looking, so I planned on getting a new carb in the near future, but I was hoping to get a little use out of this one first.

dont know about every one else but I have been busy w/motor transplant. done now, and cannot believe the difference 500HP makes over the smogger stock motor . any one looking to upgrade to haulin *** power, you got to talk to PATRIOT PERFORMANCE.com their package is f***king awesome
metalkid 08-13-2009, 11:46 AM The Spaghetti Jar Is EMPTY!:woowoo: and the lid has been fitted with hoses and hose nipples to make a brake fluid recovery tank.
So I've begun the process of Vacuum Bleeding the brakes, (since I can't convince the wife to sit for any length of time pumping the brake pedal).
After that's done, it'll be a tank of gas, and a new battery away from firing up for the first time in like eight years!
Plus I get to try out my newly rebuilt (by me  ) and powdercoated Black:beerbang: , Steering Column, (the only part of the interior thats been restored)!!! But, hey interior and paint are like the last thing you do on a Vette Restoration anyway.

What year is your Corvette? I've been looking for a set of smog legal hedders for my '82 but it appears nobody makes them. As I have a smog pump on my engine, I MUST have the small air tubes that go into the hedders. And to complicate matters, I also have angle plug heads.
1BAD80 08-28-2009, 08:17 AM Hooker Super Comp 1 7/8" fit very well with angle plugs.
I have 3" pipe all the way back & welded seams, when on jack stands I can pull them off from underneath with out any problem.

mine is 81 but we dont have strict control laws here ,unless you live in metro areas . dont think any one has headers with smog tubes kinda defeats the purpose if you still have to run a.i.r. pump as for angle plugs, mine has patriot alum. w/angle plugs no problem is your stock the cast iron manifolds or the tube type my stock was tube type i still have them
TimAT 08-30-2009, 04:28 PM Ol' Red, (the 69 BB) is running perfectly.
The 77 Coupe is running as good as it's ever going to be until I rip it apart and rebuild it. Right now, it's 100% reliable driver.
And for you guys that are looking for headers with AIR tubes, find the headers you want, have the AIR tube fittings welded in, and then get the things JET-HOT coated.
:burnout:

thats one option but headers are very thin metal if you or someone you know can TIG weld ,your in business. still recomend heddman much improved collector reducer ,no gasket to leak

buster 09-24-2009, 11:42 AM Make sure the welder has experience too. I am removing a set that had the smog pump welded in but is a bad weld job.

yeah thats why i said TIG welded if they can TIG , they can weld . headers are too thin for much else to get a quality job
metalkid 10-16-2009, 12:12 AM Since my last post on this thread:
Bled the brakes
Performed some vinyl repair (Permatex Vinyl @ Leather Repair Kit) on the t-top pad and started changing the interior color from "creme" to Black: A-Pillars, T-Top Pad, the two seatbelt retractor covers, and the plastic above the windshield (Rustoleum Vinyl Paint Gloss & Flat Black...seems to be holding up so far), to match the previously rebuilt (by me) steering column, (metal parts powder-coated black).
Over the last two weeks I've removed the front bumper cover, front bumper extension, dropped the sway bar, removed radiator & support, right (damaged) headlight assy, and the hood in an effort to expose and straighten the frame rail tips which are bent to the left, move the front hood surround back to center, and re-adhere fender panel joints that have separated, (the unfortunate result of allowing my '78 SA to be used as "an emergency only" vehicle for a now-former roomate who decided that showing up to a party in HER car, constituted an emergency, while I was on a two week business trip in Oahu.
Whew!!!

dfiredawg 10-19-2009, 02:57 AM Does anyone know where I can get a diagram of the vacuum system on a 76? I can find electrical ones everywhere but the vacuum system eludes me. I have a Chilton’s it’s not there and have been looking everywhere.
I recently got the 76 and it is in good shape as far as looks go but I have many electrical and vacuum issues. Another question is how the hell do you get the shift surround off? There is something hanging up towards the front and I can’t figure out what it is. Just been having a hard time with everything on the interior while chasing down the electrical issues.

I've had my license suspended for the last 2 months so my baby has been out of the game.
I'm back in now and she's been running smoothly.
