: Just picked up a 99 coupe
99_vette 08-09-2009, 03:38 PM I had a brand new 03 Zo6 and sold it a year later due to having kids. I'm back on the seen with a silver 99 coupe that I bought over the weekend. I've given it the once over and so far I came across a K&N intake and a B&B Exhaust. I went to their website and from what I can tell it's the B&B Route 66 with quad round tips. I know K&N makes good stuff, but I know nothing about vette performance exhaust. Is this combo good or worth starting over with something else? If so I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to off load the K&N and B&B Exhaust. Thanks in advance.

Personally I think K&N is good stuff. I had a K&N on a '96 Vette. I don't know much about B&B though, but I would assume it is quality stuff.
Congratulations on the Vette.:thumbsup3:
02MillenniumVette 08-09-2009, 03:50 PM B&B is very reputable so you dont have to worry about quality, they have it. It would depend on what kind of exhaust sound you want if you need to get a new one or not. Your not going to gain any performance from just a muffler swap though. Mufflers are for sound only, not performance. You need to get some headers and a x-pipe for that and a good tune would help as well.

I looked under the Vette and it looks like the previous owner only did the cats. I believe it's still the stock "H" pipe. Is there a way to tell? I'm sure I sound pretty stupid. LOL

If it looks something like this then it is the stock H-pipe. You will know if its a x-pipe, it will look something like the second pic.

99_vette 08-09-2009, 05:41 PM Well, I have a stock "H" pipe. When it comes to getting an "X" pipe do I have to worry about certain brands mounting to the B&B Exhaust? If not what brand should I concider?
Lethal Tendencies 08-09-2009, 07:10 PM Congrats on the vette:thumbsup: Glad you found us.B&B catback system is a great one.K&N is one of the best:thumbsup: I would say you done good:patriot:

Personally I would get LT headers and a x-pipe at the same time but if you just wanted a x-pipe, you cant go wrong with a Borla or Corsa x-pipe. Both of them should bolt right up to the exhaust. I have the LG Pro LT's and they come with a Borla x-pipe, since Borla is the one that makes the LT's for LG.
MarxZiesXR 08-09-2009, 08:19 PM You can't go wrong with K&N! That air intake is perfect regardless of the application unless it will no longer be street able. As far as the exhaust to gain true performance you have to do headers, hi flo cats, and mufflers. Sometimes you have to just go one step at a time.
I'm looking to do a new exhaust too but can't go crazy because of my relocation to CA. Here is a link to a page at SV who did an awesome exhaust job. Have fun and good luck!

Sure is. That was taken on my 5th deployment to Afghanistan.
