Hello audio peoples! Okay I'm looking to replace my stock radio in my 99 vette. It is a tape deck with a 12 disc CD changer in the rear (which doesn't read discs anymore). So I want to put in a custom head unit. Like a Pioneer or something. I've heard these C5's aren't as simple as most? So I'm asking is it a pretty much normal hookup? That meaning GM adapter plastic kit, GM wiring kit, you get the idea. I've done a ton on older vehicles but not on anything that new. So I'm no stranger to this stuff with an older car. Let me know and thanks in advance:sm_party:

Just make sure you have the proper wiring and install kit. For a new CD changer you will need to run a new wire for the best function.
I would suggest doing away with the changer, and getting a headunit that will play MP3...which most of the will now....you can fit a crazy amount of MP3 on one CD.

Make sure you use a wiring harness that plugs into your stock wiring.. Don't go cutting off the plugs! It's also gonna take an antenna adapter I'm pretty sure.

Just installed a Clarion double DIN in my 96 C4.
Wanted the stock look is why the double DIN. If you have the Bose, make sure you get the bypass harness. This will go from the head unit to the control unit behind the passenger seat.(I am refering to my 96, 99 might be different.) it is about 12 foot long with RCA plugs that will go to the pre amp out on the new head unit. Plus there are other connections that I soldered for a good contact. the other end goes to the control unit behind the passenger seat. Lift the hatch and pull out the plastic bin. That silver box is the control unit. Unplug 3 connectors that match the plugs on the harness and that is it.
The challenge is to run the new harness cable under the carpet and into the radio cavity. Have fun !
