My brakes are making a squeeky noise and they have under 1000 miles on them? Also does everyone get alot of brake dust left on their wheels? :(

I had same problem with my C6 when I first bought it, and from what I hear it is a common problem with the stock brake pads. I even went to the extent of replacing the rotors and pads and still had the squeeking noise. What stopped it was ceramic brake pads! Also this reduced the brake dust.

I moved to ceramics on one of mine that was squeeking and it cleared it right up, I have spoken to many other Vette owners whom have stated that same.

Ceramics cost a little more, however worth every penny. Cleaner and less noise.

Out of curiosity, did the ceramic pads have a rubber backing while the OEM ones did not? T

Typically that type of squealing is the pad slightly vibrating in the caliper, which a rubber backing absorbs.

Hi Tim... I'm not certain as to whether the ceramic pads had a rubber backing? When I first picked up the car it squeeked... the noise was so annoying I had both new rotors and pads installed... problem was still there. At which I decided to move to the ceramic pads... then the noise was gone and the massive amounts of brake dust seemed to nearly disappear as well!

I have 2006 Corvette model 1YY07 and RPOZ51. The car has 2,500 miles. Since new, the brakes squeal only on occassion and have observed an accumulation of black brake dust especially on the front high polished wheels. This accumulation can happen after only one weekend day of cruising. The dust washes off easily. FYI

I found a mechanic who knows Corvettes. There are aftermarket pads that fixed my problem. I went to one dealership seven times and got the same results. Went to a dealership where the mechanic and his wife drove Corvettes, problem fixed. The recommended pads are known to squeek on some Corvettes.
