I'm wondering how on earth anyone would ever know if they have improved the air flow thru their radiator without having access to high tech equipment that was capable of measuring something like that. It sounds crazy to me, but maybe someone else has heard of doing this. What is done in the end? Is it simply stood up a little bit straighter?

:iagree:

Just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The benefit have to be marginal at best and then you're dealing with a customized piece.

Hoses would need to be customized. :loser:

Just get a 3rd party radiator. It dropped my temp 30 deg. :thumbsup3:

it is the same idea as smothing out your intake if the air dosent need redirected by the shroud then more air would flow faster one of the cars i have seen it on is the PFADT car http://www.pfadtracing.com/blog/?p=71

yeah, and really is there enough room to do something like that?

If I stood my radiator up even one inch, I don't think my hood would close. What exactly is done when the radiator is re-positioned? Is it stood up or moved foreword? And even if it was moved, how much difference would it really make? Without having access to sofisticated air flow measuring devices, how would anyone ever know if they improved the air flow or not? The whole idea sounds crazy to me..........

I'v seen the Pfadt photos and it's leaning forward presumably to catch upward flow. There's (obviously) no AC and the intake is totally custom.

I don't think this is a good mod for a street car, but I can see it done from a track car.

I agree, I think this would be something practical for only track cars.

If your looking to run cooler and havent upgraded the radiator yet that might be something to look into. I have the RSD radiator, which I believe is the largest unit on the market and it keeps my car cool even in the hot summer heat here in CA.

I have a kick butt 4 tube radiator in my car and it NEVER gets hot. Not even a little bit. About 205-210 degrees on a 110-112 degree day.

It was 113 degrees here a few days ago. So there's NO WAY I would ever take my A/C out! Not even for a million bucks..........

:iagree:

This is what you should do first. My Ls1 dropped 30 degress when I installed my DeWitts.

If you were going to do the "tilt mod" you'd never want to do it with the stock unit anyway.

Your radiators are made right in the states right?

Put a new radiator in my 2000 Hardtop June 2009, put a new Coolant holding tank May 2009 and a new water pump July 2009.

Installation of the radiator is very easy if you have another guy there to help lift the old radiator out of the engine compartment and help replace install the new one. There is only one way to install the radiator. You could modify
the engine compartment or whatever good luck.

July 2009, we drove the Corvette from So Cal to
the Stockton which is in the middle of California, a distance of about 440 miles one way. We cruised at 80 MPH from Bakersfield to Stockton, 250 miles, the ambient temperature was 106 and the Corvette ran a coolant temp. between 192 and 196.

After 1,000 miles of driving we parked in front of our home which is at the 2,400 foot elevation In the Sierra Nevada. The trip went very well
and then the Corvette puked up about 2 gallons
of coolant.

At 80 MPH on interstate 5 from Orange County
to Stockton The Corvette averaged 31.5 MPG.

Would love to be able to cruise at 100MPH, for fun and to find out what the MPG would be.

The link a few posts up is the link to the radiators. I dont actually do any of the sales for RSD, its my boss' other business. But if anyone needs anything I can get you in contact with them.
