I am looking for input on what others have done to suspension both front and rear. Thinking on using Ecklers max preformance package. What do you think?

A member of our club has a 74 with a blown 502, putting out over 700hp. Told me the best upgrades he did was mono spring front and back and Rack and pinion. He said handling is amazing. I recently purchased complete set up from VBP but have not installed yet. Doing a complete custom restoration on a 74

Hey thanks alot, thats exactly what I plan to do. I am doing a 77 complete , have motor done 406 SB dyno at 440 hp 480tq. want to go with overdrive trans, not sure on 200 4r or a 700 r4 both require crossmember work but the 700 also needs drive shaft cut. also using steroids rack and pinion steering.

The mono leaf suspension is an awesome set up as stated. I own a 77 vette also and for the rear suspension i like the drag vette set up. You can find them at www.dragvette.com VBP makes some great stuff also. They have some very nice kits. I'm more of a drag racer so i like the drag vette products ,but my vette still handles like it on a rail.

The 200r fits the best and is pretty easy to install over the 700r. The 700r is going to need a little more fab and parts work.

The other question i have is this, What do you plan on doing with the car and what do you want out of it?

I HAVE ECKLERS MAX PERFORMANCE PACKAGE ON MY '80 L-82, AND LOVE IT. SHE HANDLES LIKE SHE'S PAINTED ON THE ROAD.

Thanks again for all the input. I am building this for a fun car to keep and drive, no plans to race it.

I looked at that 6 link set up at dragvett, looks like a good setup. Is that what you have on yours fly-c-3 ? How much modifing is involved?

I'm running the lower adjustable struts and they are a dang nice piece. The 6 link set up is awesome and i may up grade to that set up in a few months. I have put on the dragvette parts on other vettes and they rock! They are easy to install and are a bolt on assembly. When they are put on they really straighten out the angles and equal out load. To me this is one of the nicest bolt on units i have seen and used. You can't go wrong with this set up...

Sounds like we have very similar setups.
Bolt on with no mods, fully adjustable for ride height and spring responce on all four corners, front and rear mono springs, and adjustable struts. Followed up with a 400+ HP 454. It's a "Long Range Bomber" with tall gears.
It is a complete suspension replacement/upgrade, so if ya go with VBP or Ecklers route, get ready to get your hands dirty. It's gonna take more than one weekend.

Oh ya, I also added all new trailing arm assemblies. Complete to the rotors, and new rear gears. ( ....also from Ecklers.....)

I am going to do some more checking on the 6 link set sounds like thats the way to go. As far as getting the hands dirty last week the body came of and I have the frame stripped down bare and going to sandblaster Friday so they are dirty!

Want to check out a really trick frame set up the Max G from art morrison www.artmorrison.com. All set ready to roll to fit a 77 13 grand, sure would be sweet.
What are you running for brakes on yours?

Only 13 G's? Heck, I only have 4,500 in my suspension and drive train. Sounds like I need to kick down with a few more nickles.

My brakes are the stock discs, just all new. :)
