Hey all, I'm new to the thread and the corvette scene. I hope to pick up my first vette soon. I have been searching online high and low. Probably the best site for used corvettes that I found was vettehound.com. I'm looking for a black on black or gray C5 (could settle for a later C4 model), auto tranny, removeable top (not convertible), under 60k miles, under 18K price. If anyone knows a good site for vettes or anything to help me out (like what to look for when buying a new vette), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Good luck with your search buddy! Also check the Auto Trader as I have seen many a good deal in there! When you do get one let us all know and by all means until you do feel free to do all the posting you want!!

Not bad at all, and with the low miles it really makes it interesting. One question, are you set on the auto? That is really the only thing that would steer me away, I would only drive a manual! Also, great color!! Just take your time, even though you might want to get one quick, you could come into a great deal!!

Unfortunately, it is going to have to be an auto. I've only driven a manual a few times and I don't think it would be a good idea to tear apart clutches for a vette. I've thought about just getting a beater to practice with for a few months. However, I think im just going to save the manual for another time.

just ran a carfax on that vette... 161,258 last reported!:wtf:Thats a bit more than the odometer shows! Looks like the dealer did a little tampering with the odometer after they bought it at auction...

Thats messed up buddy, time to look at another dealer! You should call them on the difference of figures... 100,000 miles difference is no joke!

I was told in my search for a vette that I might want to stay away from any california vehicles due to their strict emissions. I was told that performance vehicles were bogged down in cali to try to fix the smog problem out there... Is there any merit to this? I live in missouri and they have emissions as well. Would I easily be able to fix the "bog" down in performance to get the most out of the vette or is the difference even anything worth messing with?
