Does it matter what brand engine coolant you stick in a C5? I was told the C5's you can run anything but the newer Vettes you need to run Dextrol (something like that)? If this is true why is it?

i believe anything newer then a 1982 corvettes has to use Dex-Cool. As far as brand though, no it doesn't matter, i like ZEREX products and Havoline the best....or you can go with the All Make/All Model stuff made by Prestone, not bad stuff either.

I don't use Dex, I thought that over the long time that it is bad for your engine.

Whatever you end up using I would flush it at least every 2 years. No way would I go 5 like the Dex-cool is suppose to last

Am I just hearing things, or is it true that Dex does harm your engine?

I think that was just a rumor? There was a thread I remember reading here that discussed whether or not Dex Cool was good or not for your motor? Its like food, you give someone long enough time you can find anything bad?

So you can use any coolant and it will be ok?
