Isn't it amazing when you think about it how much even tuning has changed over the years? No more adjusting the carb idle, ignition timing, swap plugs, points, etc., everything is all electronic these days! Now granted all of these still play important role in what you tuners do, but you have access to controlling so much more from what I understand, and compare that to 20 to 30 years ago! Big difference.

Looking back on it, I am suprised the motors stayed together. I remember what now seems almost like guessing. For example, just looking at the plugs to determine AFR, and it detonation is occuring.

What about the springs and weights in the distributers. Nothing like the tables we have today.

I can hardly wait for the variable valve timing with the little noids and tuning them vs our pushrod engines-----NOT:burnout:

Well, we STILL have to change spark plugs, every 100,000 miles :thumbsup3:

Checking plugs is still as important as it was 30 years ago, that's really the only evidence you have of what is going on in an individual cylinder, even with all our data logging ability
