i am rebuilding my 1980 front end i started with the passanger side front and have it all put together now.
i have not started the drivers side front so have nothing apart.
the problem is when i look from the front of the car underneath the coils are at different angles.
my car has no engine in it so i had to buy a spring compressing tool that latches on the spring twords the top and then has a plate that fits under the lower control arm.
when i tighten this tool up it brings the spring down at an even compresion it seems i need to have the spring bend at an angle so it will go in all the way at the top.

should i redo this spring, the spring that i did not touch yet has a deeper angle to it than the one i just put in?i know i got the spring in the lower control arm right but seems not to be setting in top right.

thanks for the help

I had my front coil springs out of my '82 about 15 years ago when I replaced the rubber upper and lower A-Frame bushings. If I recall correctly, the upper spring seat is formed so the cut end of the coil spring wire indexes into the spring seat only one correct way. In other words, the spring had to be rotated correctly for it to fit into the upper seat properly.

And then once the spring is rotated and indexed correctly, then you lift up the lower A-Frame and fasten it. I hope this information helps you...........
