When I am sitting in N, if I rev the engine above 3500 it starts running choppy? At idle it's smooth as silk also when running on the road it is smooth for the most part too.

When you rev your engine in neutral, vacuum is EXTREMELY high. So the fuel mixture is EXTREMELY lean. That's why the rpm is choppy.

Mine does that too, although i think that it is more close to the 4000 range.

What year Vette? It is probably the rev limiter in the computer. How does it do in gear?

Toby, when did they start putting the rev limiters in? Do you know?

Pretty much since they started using computers. Not sure if OBD I did it dut believe they did. I know that OBD II does. It is a saftey they do to keep it from over reving without a load on them.

I just know that most vehicles with OBD II while in neutral or park they will start to cut out around 3500 rpms. If it has a manual trans, it would have to have a neutral switch (so it knows it is not in gear). I am not talking about a rev limiter or governor as for the speed. Go to a car lot & test drive some cars & try it.
