Just wanted to say hello to all. I've been looking through the C5 forum for info. I'm on the verge of finally buying a C5 and was hoping to get some insite from folks in the know, or at least with some vette buying experience. :) I'm an active member of the Mazda boards and bought and built a Mazda 3 for my son in anticipation of finding a C5 at a price I'm willing to pay. Those boards were invaluable for the dos and don'ts for my build and I expect this board will be the same. The current Vette is a 2000 C5, some options like HUD, Bose, 6sp, 48(k) miles, very clean outside and in, a look underneath shows, well not much but it is tidy (and flat) dealer is asking 25k. I'm hoping for 23k.
I'll test drive it this Sat and am pretty sure if it rides as well as it looks I'll buy. Oh and it's Millenium Yellow. Now in the past I've only looked at Black, Torch Red or Blues because I could never see myself in a yellow car. But damn, this yellow just rocks me. Shows all the lines and just really fires me up. Anyway I'd really appreciate any feedback, tips, or advice I can get about this purchase. Buying and owning a corvette has been with me since I was about 14, I'm 51 and finally want to own a real car.

Sorry this was so wordy, but thanks in advance for your help.

Colin

Colin,

First of all welcome here, and congrats on the upcoming Corvette purchase. Dealers always jack up the prices as I'm certain you are aware. 48k miles isn't bad at all for a 2000, if you are paying cash I would offer less to the dealer than the $23k that you are aiming at. If you are financing, hell I would still offer less I would be aiming around $21k or so. Let the dealer know you are going to be looking at other Vettes.

If you haven't allready look on: www.cars.com www.autotrader.com www.vettefinder.com www.usedcorvettes.com

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, I will be paying cash so I'll start low around 20, KBB lists at 23500. We'll see where we go. Of course I'll post back after Saturday (1/5/8) with results. I'm not in a hurry and I know now that there are lots of beautiful vettes for sale.
