I am trying to pin down the reason my wipers keep going even after you shut them off. it doesn`t matter what position you put the switch in, they keep going until they are ready to shut off. Is it the switch, or the wiper motor. Is there a fix or is this a part swap? Thanks

Its probably the switch in the door that is wonky. For now you could pull the fuse out of the fuse panel to stop them until you can get it fixed.

More than likely the limit switch and contacts in the wiper motor itself.
When you close the door switch, the wiper still has power until the arms come to their rest position and the contacts are supposed to open
Contacts are under the plastic cover on top of the motor.

Of course you would.
Checked out the schematic in the FSM lately or just guessing off the top of your head again?
If the switch is faulty why don't they come on when he turns the key on?

If you only drive in the rain, no one will notice.

I just can not wait to hear what a door switch has to do with wipers. Tell me more!

That is where you turn the wipers on and off, at least on my 2 vettes, wheres your switch in your nose?

Since he has a '95, his switch is in the turn signal stalk, same as on MY car...not in his nose.

Think of next? That change was made about 20 years ago. See if you can keep up.

"Porting a ceasefire" to whatever results beats sitting on your sitter and crying because someone doesn't come along and bail you out by doing it for you.

RACE ON!!!

Aww have you missed me? Has your stalking been stymied? Not all of us have nothing else to do. Some on here, most in fact, enjoy working in their cars, and do.

To answer your question dude, from my expierience, you have to clean the contacts on the relay or replace the relay. It is located inside the wiper motor, there are i think 3 Torx nuts you have to take out, the one near the intake is a real pain but it can be done. Remove the plastic cover, (you will need latex caulk to re-seal it when finished) remove the circuit board, and clean the contacts. I do not think it is the switch because I replaced mine when my wipers wouldnt shut off and it did not fix the problem. However mine turned of when you turned the car off, I dont know if yours are stuck on all the time or only when you turn them on. Even if they are I still stick with my first guess. Either way it wont hurt to take that thing apart and clean it. Good luck.

The 20 or so time I have seen the problem on a C4 it was the wiper motor and never a switch.

Really? Mine WAS the switch contact not sending signal to "park" the motor.
I cleaned connector and contacts and it worked for quite some time. However, even though I cleaned and greased the contacts the corrosion had migrated farther INSIDE the switch where I couldnt clean it. I eventually had to replace it anyway.

The wiper switchs go bad all the time, we replace several of them a month on the C-4s, But the "Wipers keep running until they want to turn off even if the switch and key is off" Has always been the circuit board in the wiper motor on the car i have fixed .Now I'm sure under the right circumstances a switch could cause a simaler problem, I see new problems on 25 year old Corvettes every day.

Same issue. My wipers will not turn off with the switch until you turn the ignition off. After turning the car on again with the switch off, the wipers will park...So since I read this thread, I will go with board and wiper motor disassemble cleaning contacts first, then replace the switch next. Thanks for the relevant replies folks.

Let me know how it goes and how difficult it was to fix. y 84 is doing the same thing as yours to the letter.

Yeah, mine does it too. I bought mine and drove it for a little more than a month before garaging it for a complete resto. The last week that I drove it, the intermittent showers brought this problem to light. I was ready to hit it with a hammer.
