Big difference or no? Power wise that is.

Considering that folks with headers are only picking up a handful of HP by deleting them, I seriously doubt that you would notice a difference.

The companies that make the high flow cats do claim a nice gain.

There's more to consider than the flow...
Simply put, the high flows will not do their job as long as the factory units. The do not contain as much material (which burns off over time) as the stock units. You may find you can no longer pass smog inspections after a couple of years.
The price difference tells all.

I got a set of American Racing Headers from ECS that came with the high flow cats, and noticed a big difference, but have no way to tell how much was just the cats. No problems to report as of yet, but emmissions inspection isn't due for another year ...

Even if it passes the emission test, it might not pass the visual inspection.
They are required to visually inspect for modifications in California and you need to present certificates for parts as I understand it.

That has got to be the most idiotic rule, it passes emissions test but then it can fail a visual!!!

The best solution to this question is a dyno test! Were only looking for a power difference and nothing else. Were not worried about emissions, price, or durability. If we did worry about anything else it should be horse power to dollar ratio:happy0045:
