I'm rebuilding my 1985 Corvette. The timing mark is not lining up. I have the HEI/EST disconnected, as the manual instructs. Any ideas on why I can't get the timing mark to line up?
Thank you for your help!!

Either your timing is way off, or the outer ring of the the balancer has slipped/spun on the hub. Make a tool out of an old spark plug to find TDC #1 and see where your balancer's mark is, reletive to the timing tab. If it's not on "0"...then your balancer has slipped.

I assume you mean with the engine not running?
If the engine is running , you could have the timing so far out (will still run ) it is not showing up on the mark.
Back to basics.
Do as Tom400CFI suggests above to confirm timing mark is correct when #1 piston is at TDC .Then check dist to make sure the rotor is pointing at #1 spark plug .
