...or replacing.
I have a 76 with a built-in map light in the rear view mirror. The light component was missing when I bought the car and I'm considering fixing it. I've found entire mirror replacements on ebay but I can't find any literature on how to fix it, let alone how to operate it once it's fixed! Even my original owners manual says nothing about a lamp built into the mirror.
This is what it looks like...this has the lamp component intact:

On mine, the lamp part is missing from the mirror. The wiring is intact and goes inside the mirror, but the light module is gone. I'm guessing it is designed to be removeable, and at some point went AWOL.
Questions (help):
Safe to say, if I purchased an entire replacement like the one above, could I simply take out the lamp part and insert it into my mirror?
How is the light operated? Is it a switch right on the lamp itself?
Are the bulbs replaceable these days?
Thanks a bunch in advance...
Scott
