Well I spent the day at the dealer but now its fixed. Some of you will remember my posts in regards to my hometown dealer saying my compressor was out on my 30,000 mile 99 coupe. I found it hard to believe so today I took it to a well established dealer an hour away and got a second opinion. I said nothing about what I had been told by the first dealer. They did a complete evac and then charged it back up. They called me in and said sorry but your compressor is out. I said do you have one in stock and can you fix it today they said yes. It turned out to be $1115.10 out the door and the first dealer said $1168.00 after starting at $1206.00. It feels good to have it fixed especially coming home it was 95 with high humidity.

That is an insane price. New compressor is only $489.00 from Autozone and a Remanufactured compressor is only $339.00 from other sources, so if you r and r it yourself and then have the system purged (not by the dealer) and recharged it would be a total of $500-650.
Your contribution to the dealer is probably why GM has come out of bankruptsy so fast:smilielol5: :smilielol5: :smilielol5:

I have changed several compressors in GM vehicles. Got most in the junkyard for $20-50.
It takes a few hours, Need to unbolt and rebolt on parts. Evacuate and recharge. Exhorbitant prices at Steelerships are common. If you have some mechanical ability, a set of sockets, and a set of guages (if not they are $39 at Harbor Freight) you can do it yourself. :patriot:
