: Lowering a C4?
kingofthehill 03-03-2007, 09:24 AM Would like to lower my 1995 C4, it just seems like it is 2 feet off the ground, I saw in Vette magazine a while back a C4 (think it was a '93) that was lowered and it looked much better. I called a local shop and they stated that I could lower it 3/4"? I would like to get it at least 1" - 11/2". Has anyone done this or have any ideas if this is possible?
1989vette 03-03-2007, 10:30 AM I agree alot of the C4's look like they are ready to go 4x4'ing! Keep us posted on what you end up doing.
Drippingwithgold 03-07-2007, 06:53 PM I wouldn't do it, my car is stock and bottoms out now and then.

Appreciate the feedback. Sometimes its easy to get carried away looking through magazines, as many of these cars may not be the most "friendly" daily drivers!

Hmmmm... theres a catch! Over looked the occasional speed bumps!
old-guy-and-vette 03-09-2007, 08:53 AM Found some articles last night and they referenced as well that you don't want to lower these much at all as the clearance will be compromised!
VIN_#_00521__Z-51_C4 04-04-2007, 06:47 AM I have a 2" in the rear and 1" in the front Has a better stace looks more aggressive and will have better air coeffiecence:D

I also have 315/35/17's in the rear with 275/40/17's up front and pending on the size, height and width of the speed-bump ( In omaha where Im at there are 7 ft wide a gradual climb ( Nothing serious... its those 2ft wide 4 fi high ones that could hurt a little ( Im not sure if there is a 4ft high speedbump :) If you do Drop the car Just take it east Mines low But not too low that it would hit something underneath

Man that thing looks good!
VIN_#_00521__Z-51_C4 01-05-2008, 07:38 PM Man that thing looks good! Thanks! I really LOVE THIS C4, it has a shim kit in front and the long suspension bolts for the rear.... For 25 yrs old, She still screams like a new car.. Even on the track , I trapped a 9.7 in the 1/8 and did pretty good on this bad-*** road coarse in Iowa http://www.midamericamotorplex.com/2006/images/site%20parts/2006_rc_map_0.jpg I was flyin on this track and had my rear tires howling in the turns( I never lost control either (see image and turn 14 it may not look it, but you can spin out of control leaving 13 at 80 mph Its a great track to race on ( I prefer slow at first, to get the feel of the track) I literally could smell the brakes @ one point hitting the turns at 80 mph
Steve40th 01-15-2008, 09:38 PM Do it, makes it look better and chix dig it!

why ??? nice looking vette
engineers vette 07-18-2008, 01:58 PM Don't lower it.
Paulie Lugnuts 07-18-2008, 03:09 PM I lowered my 86 2 years ago and as long as you're smart about speed bumps its not a problem. All the parts suppliers sell kits. The rear is easy, the front is more work, but not too bad. I say go ahead, it will look much better and handle better too.
blastfromthepast 07-19-2008, 06:05 PM I have not seen a C4 lowered. Now I have seen some C5's and C6's that were lowered to the max. Just don't really know how the C4 would look that low.
I have a 88 did you have any mods for 315s
