Hi, I was wondering what the opinion was of installing oversized pistons rather than ordering a new short block.
By installing bigger pistons will this give a higher compression/HP/TQ? Also can I get away with using my old connection rods with the new pistons? Or need I get new ones?
This idea might be out in left field, but is the reason why I'm posting it, so thank you for your help or any advice you can give.

I may be wrong but don't you want to forge everything before doing something like that?

If your going to do that you'll have to take out the whole engine anyways and get it bored out to fit the bigger pistons. Now you might as well do a whole new block and get all forged internals, it will cost a little more but man, you will have a fully forged brand new engine!

you can certainly do oversize pistons but not by much more than .030 or so because of the factory wall thickness. Doing that along with a 4" crank will give you about 384-386 cu in from a stock block. How much power are you looking for?
