We may get our Renegade manifold this month. I sure hope so because that's the last thing I'm going to do to my engine.

What else have you done to your engine? Don't forget to take pic's of your port job on your old intake manifold.

I don't own a digital camera, so I can't take any pictures of my intake manifold porting job. Sorry.

I have the H.D. pink connecting rods, TRW single eyebrow forged pistons, an Erson 214/214 roller cam (set at 4 degrees advanced), 1.6 roller rockers, 2.02"/1.60" Dart heads, and 2" bored throttle bodies. And, a B&M 2000 Holeshot torque convertor and 3.54 gears in the rear. With this combination, it'll run 0-60's in the high fives and top out at 120 mph. I'm also running a frame mounted Hypertech inline fuel pump set at 13.5 psi fuel pressure. It was the increase in fuel pressure that really woke my engine up. As my Crossfire Injected '82 will run the quarter in the mid 90's, I would estimate it's horsepower output is around 325-330 on 87 octane fuel.

And with the 30% overdrive of the 700R4, it'll cruise at 70 mph and get 20 mpg. When I get my Renegade on, that will wrap up my engine modifications.

You should buy a digital camera. You could post all kinds of cool stuff on here. Like your wife topless, just sneak up on her:thumbsup3:

You can take regular pics and have then "digitized" or put on a CD at Walmart. I'd like to see your porting too.

Your numbers don't add up. 120 mph top speed? I would think that a STOCK '82 would go 130. With 325-330 hp, you should "top out" at about 150 with that body.

Also, w/a 1/4mile trap speed of mid 90's, that is about 230-240 hp, by my estimate. I was trapping 105 w/my CFI Trans Am, and I was estimating 300-320 hp. Maybe I was really making 420? I don't think so though. 330 hp, 3400lb cars trap around 105-110, not mid 90's. Sorry. Maybe your car weighs 4500 lbs?

Does your manifold get shy in front of old fashioned film cameras??? I wonder how they used to take pictures before digital cameras?

There are quite a few things YOU should buy.

My '82 weighs 3650 pounds dry, and about 3800 pounds fully fueled. And with my 200 pounds, that puts my car's weight up to 4000 pounds. I know from past experience it takes about 400 horsepower in a 4000 pound car to crack the 100 mph barrier. So with my running mid 90's, I estimate my engine is putting out about 325-330 horsepower. With the shorter 3.54 gears, it tops out at 120 mph at 5600 rpm.

When I road test my car, I pick a flat road somewhere. Not down the side of a mountain like you guys do in Utah. And then, I start from a dead stop; not the 25 mph running start like you do.

And I don't have any camera at all, nor a wife.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The numbers don't seem right.

My last dyno run I got the car up to 135 and it wasn't topped out! I could have gotten more out of it for sure. With 3:45's.

Last time at the track the best trap I had was at 95 mph. Using my ET calc on the computer it said i had around 254rwhp based on my time, trap and weight. This would put me in the 310-315hp at the flywheel. Using a 20% drive train loss.
Some of your math doesn't add up. My trip this year to the track in gonna be in two weeks. Definetly running different tires this time!! I think the ones I had on last year really slowed me down. But live and learn. I run in NY and do start from a dead stop. To prove it here's a vid from inside the car on the track.

Back in the mid 60's, all of my friends owned one form of muscle car or another. All of them weighed around 3800 pounds, all of them had 300-325 horsepower engines, and all of them ran the quarter in the low 90's.

As my '82 weighs close to 4000 pounds fully fueled and with me in it, and it runs the quarter at around 95 mph, I estimate my engine is putting out slightly more horsepower than those mid 60's muscle cars were.

And as I'm able to run high 5's on my 0-60's, I'm estimating my engine is putting out around 325-330 flywheel horsepower; certainly a lot more than the Crossfire's lousy stock 200 hp.

So with me running mid 90's with a 4000 pound car, a 700R4 transmission, and 3.54 gears, what do YOU think my engine is putting out? Personally, I don't care. It puts out what it puts out, it runs on 87 octane, and I'm happy with it. And once I get my RENEGADE on it, I'm done fooling around with it. Because I have better things to do than continually screw with my engine.

Nope. 400 horse, 4000 lb cars trap 105-110 with decent driving. Something in your "past experience" is out of whack.

With the shorter 3.54 gears, it tops out at 120 mph at 5600 rpm. .[/QUOTE]
O.K.... Don't you have OD?

The only thing "different" here than there, where you are...is we have less air pressure, less oxygen to work with. I don't believe that any Utah'n that posts here, has posted data from a roll or going "down the side of a mountain". If they have, please quote and show me where that happened.

Based on 4000 lbs? I'd say about 260-270 hp.

Personally, I don't care. It puts out what it puts out, it runs on 87 octane, and I'm happy with it.I certainly won't take exception to that part...and in fact, I'll say that it is GREAT that you're happy with it. That is by far, the most important thing, and I especially I think can relate. :)

That sounds like the frustrated rantings of someone that can't measure up. When I test my car, it is on a certified and nationally sanctioned drag strip timed by calibrated electronic timers.

So besides taking pictures, what else does that mean you can't do?

I sincerely hope so...then maybe we won't be hearing about it every day, all day....You guys really need to find girlfriends...they are a lot more fun than anything you can bolt (or otherwise attach) to your engines anyway...

I would rather have money in the bank than another girlfriend. After getting rid of wife #3 back in late 2005, I'm just now beginning to recover. But thanks for the suggestion.
