Here is a nice write up, on LPE's site. Look behind the sales side of it and it should answer your questions!

"For high-powered applications EXEDY offers Multi plate clutches. These are designed for hot street action as well as drag, road, and rally racing. All of our multi plate clutches come with a lightweight chromoly steel flywheel, and the famous purple anodized forged aluminum clutch cover. Depending on the application, both strap drive and lug drive models are available. All have T5001 cerametallic friction materials for extreme heat resistance.

For owners with highly modified Corvette’s, looking for a clutch that will handle the power and abuse at the track, yet still enjoy driving their cars on the street, look no further. The Exedy twin, which is currently being run in street and drag race applications, including the Three Hour Grand American Series, offers the high hp owners everything they need. This is the clutch of choice for the Lingenfelter 427 CID twin turbo. This clutch has a comfortable feel and does not cause a heavy pedal feeling."

I am using The excedy right now. It's good to about 700lbs. of torque. It has a slightly firmer pedal and grabs at the top of the clutch pedal compared to an OEM C6 clutch. The friction material grabs well while not being like an ON OFF switch giving it OK street manners.

I am going with the Mcleod Twin next because my Excedy Twin is past it's limit. The Mcleod will be a bit noisier with the sintered Iron disc and rated to 1500hp with upgradability to 1800 HP.It's not a direct fit though.

Hope it helps

Here's a pic of mine when it was new.

I have always been a McCloud person. I have had good experiences with them every time. Now that doesn't mean that they are the best, just that I have had good dealings with them. I have heard alot of good things about Exedy also!
