As far as led replacement i had to make my own with strips from here, http://www.oznium.com/led-flex-strips
They are all wired up and ready to go so i just stacked 2 strips and soldered 1/2" peice of paperclip to each pair of wires. That easily plugs into the original spots and then held them in place with a dab of silicone gasket sealer. It has been working great, but i wish that i had used red strips instead since the clear causes it to be too bright to match the led tail-light set i have. You can see how i did it here, http://todd-vette.tripod.com/mycarpics/index.album/my-car-pics?i=30
The pic has it wired backwards...the copper colored lead needs to go to the top row and silver to the bottom.

I used Todd_Vette's suggestion about 2 months ago. It came out GREAT! The idea of soldering the paperclip ends onto the wires to plug into the existing plugs was a great help! This is a great mod, that you won't find for sale anywhere that I searched. It looks good, it's easy and is cheap to do. Great look!

I used the clear LEDs and am happy with it.

Thanks again Todd

Here's LED third brake lights if you want to pay for it. Otherwise it's probably cheaper to make it yourself.

This Guy on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/91-96-CORVETTE-C4-SMOKE-LED-3RD-THIRD-BRAKE-TAIL-LIGHT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZQ7c293Q3a1Q7c294 Q3a30QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em14Q2el1262QQhashZitem 518699a98dQQitemZ350150568333QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fT ruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories sells the exact same ones for about $20 less since he has free shipping. Which is fine if you have a 91 up... those of us with 85-90s HAVE to make our own.

I probably will get a few hisses but... 95% of the stuff you find at Mid America (The ONLY exception is a couple of things they make or restore in house) you can find else where for an average of 20% less. Some thing up to half the cost. And God save you if you have to return something to them...I decided years ago that i would rather use the extra money to build/buy my own Vettes than help yeager stuff his collection. That mind set took hold when they decided to start snubing club sponsorships and things for shows.

A few questions:
Why not take the ugly 3rd brake light off in the first place? It REALLY spoils lines of the car.
Is it illegal to remove the 3rd brake light from a car that had one (like removing emissions control devices?...nobody does that right?)
If it is illegal can it be relocated to the interior and legally comply. (I saw some early 86's that had the light inside the hatch under the glass)

Couldn't you use a led light strip you see in most auto stores and afix that to the interior edge of the "sail panel/halo" under the hatch?
:seeya:

Yeah I've seen lots of stuff cheaper than Mid America that was just the first one I went to that had the the LED light so I posted it as an example. I've got quite a few places to get stuff from. I can respect Mike Yeager for starting his whole business and even having all his nice Vettes, I'd do the same thing if I had that kind of money. I just think it's gone to his head too much and he seems like he's on an invincible or untouchable level. Most other Vette guys I know are really down to earth and average like me. Of course he may be as well but I've never met him. He just has a persona to me of being pretty proud of himself.

Keep an eye out on this web site. I have purchased their full LED interior kit and their HID head lamp kit.

A little birdy told me that you might want to keep a look out for c4 LED tails for a fraction of the cost of MAM :D.... Thats just what a little birdie said. :D

Just a heads up. That is not a misprint in the Mid America pictures. The smoke housing is black and the black housing looks gray. Why, I don't know. I have the 'smoke' on my '91, looks black, like it.
