If cold air isn't blowing into the car, you obviously have an air door problem. Either one that isn't opening or isn't closing. And 300 psi on the high side is mighty high unless you're running 134 refrigerant. High side on an 80 degree day (with R12) should be around 210-220 psi.

Did you put the proper orafice-filter in the line?
When you switch to 134a you have to change that little plastic filter...I have never asked why...
Make sure the heater diverter valve is stopping the hot water from flowing through the heater core.

As far as I know, there's only one blend door. And that is located inside the plenum just above the passenger's feet. Then there's another door in the middle just above the radio. That door controls the airflow; whether it goes up thru the defroster vents or the lower floor vents.
The blend door will have some sort of "motor" on top of it. The motor may be a vacuum diaphragm motor, or an electric stepper motor. The vacuum ones last damned near forever, but the electric powered stepper ones don't last very long at all. You have likely got a stuck stepper motor, or a bad connection on/in it.
Feel around on top of the plenum. You will find something up there that controls the air mixing/blend door inside. Good luck...........

How can you tell this? Is there a meter one can purchase?

A refill station has them built in...line temps...That is what infra-red thermometers were invented for. Just point and it tells the outter temps so you can easily tell which lines are doing what...in this case he needs one for the heater lines at the fire wall to test the shut-off. All of this why you are better off having a shop do your refills.

This REALY makes me think it is the heater shut-off valve. Check the temp. of the lines (about 3" going into firewall) to insure that the valve there is sutting off flow to the heater-core. If it doesn't, then all you are doing is heating the air as much as cooling it. Your A/C will be working just your heater is at the same time. The door doesn't seperat the core from the condersor(?) well enough to prevent this. That is why there is a shut-off valve.

When i did mine (87 should be the same) it only took 28 oz of R134a to fill it. The guy i use says that too much will cause loss of cooling ability. And like i stated earlier you have to replace the orafice/filter in the verticle tube coming out of the cover at the rear when you switch to R134a. I have never asked what using the original orafice will do. But i do remember that he said most people don't and wonder why the system isn't cooling. Also not using the correct oil will cause problems.
