Can the LEDs in the instrument cluster be changed easily? Can anyone tell me how to remove the cluster so that I or someone else can fix it. All gauges are working, they just do not light up.

If the gauges work you mite need to replace the back lighting bulbs? (it is a 84 to 89?) Just remove the cluster trim panal. On the cluster there is 4 chrome bulb covers, there the size of a dime. First start the car it these lights are working you will be able to tell just by looking at them. If you need to replace them get a 1/4 inch piece of vacuum hose about 4 inchs long, Next pop out the bulb covers with a small screw driver, Then being very careful slide the vacuum hose over the bulb and pull it out. Then reinstall New bulbs the same way(on 84/85 Corvettes bulbs can not be touched with bare hands, Oils from your hands will cause bulbs to fail). BUT BE CAREFUL if you twist the bulb clockwise with the hose the socket will unlock and fall in to the cluster and then it will need to be removed and disassembled the cluster to get the socket back in place. not hard just adds 2 hours to the job.

I have also noticed a problem similar to the one you are having, but mine ended up being a broken wire going to the cluster. While you have the trim off, I would take a close look at the wiring to make sure that everything looks good.
