Started using the air a couple of days ago and noticed two things. First the air is blowing fine but not cooling down even when I set it on 60 degrees. The second thing is the exterior temperature is way off. The bank sign said 94 degrees but my car said 69 degrees. I might add about two years ago I had the airconditioner lines replaced because battery acid leaked on them and ate through them. After they replaced the lines the airconditioner was checked out and given an ok. I didn't drive the car very much during the last two years but when I did the air worked fine. I might add its a 99 coupe with 30,000 miles. Any ideas ? Thanks!

The exterior temp sensor maybe the problem. You may have to replace it

I read somewhere your outside temperature reading automatically defaults to 69 degrees when the sensor goes bad. And it sounds like your air conditioning needs refrigerant put in.

I have an appointment with the local Chevy dealer to get my system recharged and sensor probably replaced on monday. They said the sensor is only about $12.00 anybody know what the going price is to recharge the airconditioning system?

I would try just the sensor b-4 I paid for an EVAC and Recharge. With automatic climate control is uses outside air temp to determine how much work the A/C system has to work to cool the air for your set temp. EVAC and recharges are NOT cheap because of the expense the shop has to pay for freon these days.

Update, I replaced the sensor this morning but the air is still not blowing cold. I am getting the correct exterior readings since I changed the sensor. I will take in monday morning to local chevy dealer to have the air looked at. I will post another update after I find what the problem is.
