hi
so as stated my ride control light is on, and as far as i can tell it seams to work?? i think.

but here are my questions

i know it can be disconnected and the shocks replace with regular ones. but do i have to do any mods, or do they just bolt in ?

i see a low priced GM code reader, that clams it will read engine codes as well as abs, but states nothing else....anybody know about this will it give me the code for ride control?

and lets say i do chose to disable it and put in standard shocks, how do i disable the rest of the system so the light goes off.

thank you in advance for any help
paul

According to your profile you have a 92.

You don't need a scanner to pull FX3 codes.

It's the same procedure as pulling ecm codes. For FX3 you use pins A to C.

You can remove the defective shocks & replace them with standard shocks. The wirung for the FX3 shocks shud be protected, or removed as you see fit. This shud take care of the lights. I have an article that explains the procedure. If you need it let me know.

The FX3 module is located behind the drivers seat
in the storage compartment. It is attached to the bulkhead & is about the size of a pack of smokes.

Check this site for info re; retrieving codes..

Most of the time the part that fails is the Actuator on top of the shock that adjusts the shocks damping, some times one shock will get out of time with the others and set a code . I would not replace all the shocks if its and eazy fix.Check the codes first.

good advice david, i just received my factory service manual, so i have a list of codes and now know witch pin to jump. also, i heard that sometimes when an aftermarket stereo is installed, it could trip a code. but if it cost to much to fix now, i may pull it until i can fix it right, the cost of 4 non fx3 shocks, is under 300-. we shall see
