Watching some of these videos on drag racing, the show pinks and the desire to add more power to my Z06 has me wanting to get into drag racing, but not loose my car to the public streets? So was wondering how many Z06 owners out there have a car with a double "life"? Kicks a$$ at the drag strips and still be able to drive back and forth to the market?

That's actually a very common goal with Corvette owners. The main thing you want to do is decide how far into it you want to get. Knowing the rules at your local dragstrip would be a big help for you. If it's an NHRA sanctioned track, then you will probably have to meet NHRA saftey specs to run your car, and those are based on speed, so the faster your car runs, the more safety equipment you will need. The biggest step is usually a roll cage, coupes running 10.99 and quicker are required to have a 6 point roll cage. You're Z06 is capable of low 11's bone stock with a good driver, so that doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room. A roll cage in a 2006-2008 Z06 is a very complicated/expensive job, due to the cars aluminum frame.
There are options, and I would be happy to discuss them with you, just let me know.

I know alot of guys that will go out and run a sweet time knowing that they are going to get kicked off the track for not having the proper safety equipment in their car. I keep telling them that it is'nt the smartest thing to be doing, but alot of guys want to get the times and not have to purchase those safety items.:willy_nilly:

A couple of years ago, a buddy of mine put a procharger on, did a cam swap and mild ported heads along with nitrous and a computer tune. This engine made 950hp and ran mid 9's in the 1/4. He drove a round trip of 800 miles and still got 23 mpg and 16 in town. Thats crazy!

I have heard of a Stock C6 Z06 with slicks and a good driver getting into the high 10s it was a 10.80 I think.
