For those who would like to paint there rear lower fascia here is a how to.
Here is what you'll need: some soapy water,1200 grit sandpaper, pinstripe masking tape, reg. masking tape, newspaper and your choice of paint.I went with dupli-color flat black.

Pinstripe tape off the area to be painted. Then with soapy water and the 1200 grit sandpaper ,wet sand the area to be painted.Lightly sand the area till it looks a little white. You just want to scuff the clear coat so the black has something to stick too.

Mask off entire rear bumper and begin spraying.I started off with very even light coats.Make sure you get in between the vents

Looks Awesome LT!

For a while now I've been entertaining the idea of doing my 02 Speedway White with Pewter accents in the rear. I like the idea now of doing the front, too.
I think I'll brush up on my photoshop skilz first...

I used Dupli-color spray paint.I went with flat black bumper paint. No clear coat. After 3 years now the flat black has faded a touch.

The end result looks great and I am going to do the same to my 2003. I have a real concern about the average person using spray cans and expecting a professional finish.

For about $250 it can be done professionally including removing the rear unit so the entire unit including the vents can be properly finished.

Finally, having it done professionally would allow you to select a sheen that is between flat and what ever sheen you desire. It would also ensure that fading would not occur.

As far as doing it yourself - I would recommend that you purchase a cover unit and install that yourself. Just my opinion.:givemebeer.sml:

While I agree you did a great job based on the photo's - it is way beyond most do it yourself ability. For about $250 you can have the rear removed and painted and can pick the exact color. While I agree with the black I don't think flat is the best for most applications. By doing it professionally you can choose many levels between flat and satin. The satin will show less dirt and smugges. Having done professional refinishing for years using a spray can is a real the wrong course to take. Trying to spray the vents while in place and end up with a professional finish is almost impossible. The best way to do this is turn it over to a professional. It's a great look but not for the average do it yourselver. You'll be taking a piece of art and turning it into?

No flex agent, unless dupli-color adds it. I have washed the car and put pressure on the area and have no issues with paint cracking
