HI GUYS. new vette owner. Ibought a 86 project car and am in need of some help. I think i have a bad fuseible linefor the fan.Acording to the repair manual by replacing it my problen should be solved , no problem there. The problem is the perviuos owner liked to cut wire many of them . I need to to know if all the fusible links are connected together in back of the battery. I haven,t played with cars in many years so I'm learning as I go. thanks alot

In the 22 years I have worked on my '82, I have only seen one fusable link. And that single one is near the starter. I don't know where they are located on an '86.

I suspect that is correct. My 1984 does not have the junction block behind the battery like your '86 does. All of my fusible links connect to the battery cable terminal of my starter solenoid. I would suggest you invest in an FSM (http://www.helminc.com) if you plan working in your car beyond this repair. It will have wiring diagrams and schematics for this repair and others. It also has trouble shooting charts to help diagnose and track down the true cause of a problem to help avoid throwing parts (money) at a problem. The link above is to the publisher of the original manual for Chevrolet. They can be found used in forum parts sections, and auction sites also. Do NOT waste your money on a generic, independent, book. Most of them cover multiple years, contain more inaccuracies, and do not have the trouble shooting charts.
RACE ON!!!

Thaanks for the info. when to the local car cruise this evening and found a 89 just as I was about to leave and got the answer I was looking for. All the fuseible links tie to gether right behind the battery. Just wanted to know if that was the way it came from GM. Thanks again
