I have a 97 C5 with 53,000 miles on it. The oil pressure guage has pinned all the way to the right and on the DIC the oil pressure reading is 128psi. Is it safe to drive the car with under these conditions? If it is the oil pressure sensor guage, is this an expensive fix? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

You need to verify your true oil pressure with a screw in mechanical gauge first. Before you do anything else. It is likely your oil pressure sender has simply failed and needs to be replaced. It's a common problem with the later model Corvettes.

I agree I just replaced oil pressure sensor/sending unit yesturday for the same reason. You can varify actual oil pressure with a manuel gauge and varify gauge operation with scan tool useing a gauge sweep test.

That happened to my C5 about a year ago. Here is a link that might help you with the fix and replacing the oil sensor. Takes about 3 hours to do. Good luck.

There is a faster way, but it requires cutting a hole in the Wiper area to gain access.
It isn't supposed to be visible from the Wiper area however becuase you remove it and make the hole underneath it.
Do a search may be worthtwile.
EDIT:
I found this:
It's important to know you have oil pressure. Replacement is easy by cutting a hole in the cowl. Pull the wiper blades, pull 5 push pins to remove the lower windshield trim. Cut the hole ( I used a hole saw) directly over the sending unit. Replace the "cut-out" piece and tape over it with metal hvac tape. Took maybe 1/2 hr. Replacing it in the future if necessary would be much quicker.
