How are the Magnuson Superchargers? I know its a Eaton unit right? I'll be adding a trailer behind my 2003 to tow my Ducati and thinking about picking up one of these. Anyone who has one, your feedback of your likes/dislikes would be appreciated.

I have a magnuson and it is just great, one thing is that you have a much longer power band. It starts spooling at around 1900 rpm. So you will have more fun at a lower speed, and when you put the pettel down this thing just pulls like a raped ape. I had mine over 180 miles per hour, had more to go. In the 1/4 mile you schould do any were from high 11's to low 12's. I have a lot of mods and with a good driver it should do high 10's to low 11's. I can't race this car my self cause I have major damage to my right leg and ankle, I do alright and have fun anyway.:)

Check out the post I just made in the C6 section on FI choices(mid way down the web page). Should provide some helpful info. Good luck whichever way you go.

 LOL You and me both Tim! It's always that "extra cash" thing that is stoping me from doing everything that I want to my Corvette! But eventually I will get the things done, I have read that that KB is a monster of a SC!:willy_nilly:

Researching the Maggie I came across the Kenny Bell 2.5 or 2.8 supercharger. Did you consider this unit when you where considering adding the supercharger to yours? It looks like it gives alot more power than the Maggie? What you think?

KBs are OK if you Like a great big high rise hood. Their Corvette Kits are fairly new to the market and do not have the reputation that Magnuson does. Everyone I know of has encountered some problems with the KB install. I know they were able to get it worked out but it did not go smoothly for most. They also may have a problem with high IATs on the 2.8. The customer service is not very good. They have a great rep with the Mustang crowd and I hope that in time they will be just as good for the GM guys.

The biggest issue with screw blowers in general is that they compress air inside the blower case. And yes, they are a true compressor like most industrial air compressors. So that means that if you are bypassing the air (normal driving) and not using it, you are also recirculating that heated air back to the inlet of the blower. And then it is compressed again and heated, compressed and heated....

As Vega$Vette said screw blowers do have high IAT issues in normal driving. I have yet to see a screw blower on a GM vehicle that ran cooler in normal driving than a Roots style in normal driving. At WOT screws do tend to run cooler because of the design but you will have to get rid of all the heat soak to see the IAT's decrease if you nail it after driving around for a while.

Roots style (e.g. Magnuson) blowers have less of an IAT issue (not saying it's gone, just less) because they compress the air in the manifold and not in the blower case itself. So when you are doing your normal driving, the roots style blower is just windmilling along and no compression of the air is occuring. However many Roots style blowers are not designed for higher boost applications (>12 PSI) and tend to heat the air charge more at higher RPM's.

If you are planning on running ~7 PSI or less on a mostly stock engine daily driver, stick with a Roots style. If you're planning on drag racing & forging the engine go with the screw blower.
