I'm considering doing my own brakes for the first time! I've been told it is relatively simple process. I picked up all new rotors today. They didn't have the stock brake pads and I was told to come back tomorrow. Are there other types of brake pads that I can use on a '89 Vette?

Is there anything I need to know about doing the brakes before I start? Perhaps something tricky about Vettes? Appreciate your input!

Make sure that you buy quality ceramic brakes so that your not cleaning brake dust all the time. Remember going fast is cool, but stopping is even better. Plus, for every two front sets, replace the rear set also.

Thanks for the tip, I'm off to find Ceramics then!

Im going to upgrade with
-Slotted, cryoed, 12" Australian DBA Brake Rotors
-Corvette Grand Sport Calipers

i got these from the owner of the car he recommended doing this to IMPROVE the stopping power of the car .. i might even consider replacing the radiator with a BE COOL radiator ---- I'll submit pictures soon

You didn't mention what you intend to use the car for (100% street)? Any HPDE's?

100% street I just want the best stopping power there is hopefully these slotted, cryoed 12" rotors and Grand sport calipers will do the job.... I going to enjoy this car, drive it to as many show as possible and if time allows go to the NCM Not sure what you mean by HPDE

Ceramics are the way to go. This will reduce brake dust, and I believe they last longer as well.
