I am down in Florida. Put my car in a hot garage and now I cannot turn the mirror lights or the dash lights off.
No matter what I do, the mirror light switches do not work. The outside lights still go off automatically
I do not know if the heat did something or not.
I put my car outside to cool off but I don't know if that will work.
Any ideas. Has this happened to anyone else with a C6?
If I disconnect and reconnect the battery. What goes off first negative or positive and what do I attach first.
Thanks
Alan

When disconnecting a battery, you always disconnect the ground first. And when you go to hook it back up again, you connect the ground last.

you inadvertently depressed the button on the left side of the dash. depress it again and the lights should go off.
My car was in the shop for a month and that button got depressed and it drained the battery. New battery time

Um, I've got the same problem with the vanity (mirror) lights. 2005 Z51 manual. In my case, the lights do eventually go out but only after about 15 (really, 15) minutes. Also happened once while driving - just couldn't turn them off, even after trying everything with illumination intensity (lower dash) button. Always happens after previously using accessory power mode. Pushing or double-pressing the illumination intensity button does not have the effect the owners manual indicates. The problem self-cures after the next engine-on "key" cycle. I haven't owned the car very long, so I wouldn't rule out my own brainware failure. But could this be a firmware quirk? I did hold off from posting to verify this several times. If it matters, the battery has been dead once (reverse "feature") and was recharged. Any other suggestions? Has there ever been a TSB for a body computer firmware reflash? Thanks for your patience.

 Has happened to me on occasion, however they are supposed to go off eventually after 15-20 min or so by theirselves.

Just wanted to share that the vanity light problem went away after I disconnected and reconnected the battery. Same thing with a problem I had with the alarm - I could open the trunk hatch when the key fob was in proximity, disarming the alarm, but the alarm would go off when I *closed* the truck
Following the power cycle, the windows for both doors stopped closing the last half-inch when the doors were closed. This lasted a day, and then, miraculously self-cured after filling it with gas. I may be a relatively new owner, but I've never seen such random behavior in vehicle electronics before. Is this normal for this model year? Or have I just gone crazy?
Thanks.

You need to reset your windows after you disconnect your battery. It is in the owners manual. So, that one is normal.

Thanks. I didn't expect that to be an operational feature. I guess I got bogged down in the first hundred pages of the owners manual, devoted to the physiology of incorrect seatbelt usage.
Regarding my second question.... do you or someone else know if there has ever been a firmware update TSB for the 2005 C6? Just checking.
I do love this car. Nothing quite like it. But I'm starting to wonder if the software group was on the same page as the rest of the excellent design group in Bowling Green.

:iagree: I've done that myself, took me a bit to figure out what had happened. Actually I think it was Talon that gave me heads up what I had done! ha ha ha

I just want to profusely thank Paul (talon90) for providing me with a list of 27 firmware updates available for my 2005. It's off to the Chevy dealer now...

I had the same problem with the mirror lights! On an 06 the small round dimmer knob gets accidentally pressed on the left side of dash next to the steering wheel...
